Finally! They’re here!—New Elevators at Penn Station

New Elevator Entrance and Beautiful New Art by Diana Al-Hadid

Long overdue, but so happy it’s arrived! This elevator sits across from the new escalators on the south side of 33rd Street and Seventh Avenue. The elevator drops you right at the turnstiles for both the downtown and uptown 1, 2, & 3 trains. And more good news here, the elevator on the No. 1 downtown platform has been replaced and it too is now working!

New turnstiles Seventh Avenue at 33rd Street

Built for 21st Century Travel

It’s a grand entrance (or exit) where the Long Island Railroad ticket office used to be located. Now these escalators drop you into a brand new underground corridor that takes you to the LIRR trains as well as NJ Transit. You can stay underground to Eighth Avenue and then right on into the beautiful new Moynihan Train Station. Basically you can travel underground from Seventh Avenue all the way to Ninth Avenue. It’s clean, brightly lit, decorated with art and filled with all sorts of food offerings. And all of it is wheelchair and mobility scooter accessible.

More tile work by artist Diana Al-Hadid memorializing the former Penn Station with it’s grand steel arches and glass.
